ROOM 13 COME TO MALLAIG PRIMARY!
International Social Enterprise Group to work with the school.
Room 13, the international Social Enterprise Group who use Art as a medium to engage and challenge pupils, are to form a new base at Mallaig Primary School.
The idea was born when one of our own pupils, Ka in primary 1, travelled to India with her family in order to volunteer for room 13 on a project. Having heard of all the wonderful things she was doing, the pupils here at the school decided to contact Room 13 in an attempt to find out more about their projects and hopefully forge a more permanent link with the school.
The pupils therefore contacted Robert Fairley of Room 13 and invited him to visit us here at the school. On the 25th of January Mr. Fairley met with the Pupil Council, 4 other pupils, Mrs MacKellaig, Miss Martin and Mrs MacLean in order to discuss the possibility of Room 13 becoming involved with the school. A very successful meeting led to the agreement that Mr. Fairley would become the schools 'artist in residence' in a pupil led scheme. This will involve the children forming a comittee and deciding how they would like to create and use their very own 'Room 13' in the school.
If you would like more information on what 'Room 13' involves then please visit their website:

Elections will be held on the 28th of January to elect the all new Room 13 committee, and further details of the project will appear on the website in due course.
