Dear Parent/guardian

School Meals

If your child takes school meals at any time during the week, this must be indicated and paid for direct to the canteen at the start of the week. For instance, even if your child only takes a school meal one day a week, in order for the staff to gauge quantity, they must know this in advance. We appreciate your co-operation.

Parking

Please refrain from bringing cars up to or in to the school car park when dropping off or collecting your child from school. As we have intimated in the past, there is very little space for manoeuvring and this poses a possible hazard to children walking up to the school from the bus stop etc.

Washing Fruit

We have been asked to remind parents to please wash any fruit that your child may bring to school for snack or packed lunch.

Grumpy Club

We wish to thank the Grumpy Club from Cnoc-na-Faire who recently kindly donated the terrific sum of £75 to each of the local primary schools.

The amount will be allocated to the Student Council Account so the pupils can decide how they would like to spend the money.

Triathlon

Well done to Jenna Gliddon, Ida McVarish and Thomas Kennedy who represented our school in the recent inter-schools triathlon. Jenna participated in the swimming category, Ida in the cycling and Thomas in the running. All three performed brilliantly!

Healthy Tuckshop

Thank you to all parents who have offered their assistance with the planned healthy tuckshops that will take place weekly, starting Tuesday 29th September. We will be selling dried fruit/raisins for 10p and other healthy snacks* for 20p (*these will vary from week to week).

Visit from Sgt Nick

We had a visit from our new sergeant, Sgt Nick to a recent assembly. He introduced himself to the children, gave them a little ‘pep talk’ about road safety and judged our ECO-school competition. Winners were Ida McVarish, Emily Brown and Kelsey MacBeth.

Supergrounds

We recently met with our advisor and are now in receipt of the first £1000 of the awarded grant. We are now required to set up the working committee and to create an action plan. Thank you to all those who are keen to assist with this project.

School Documents

The Improvement Plan, School Profile and Standards & Quality documents are available to view upon request. The school priorities will be discussed at future Parent Council Meetings.

Wee Stories Theatre

Most pupils from the school will be attending the production ‘The Sun, the Moon and a boy called

River’, in the M&MCC on Wednesday 30th Sept. Permission slips will be issued separately.

Shoe Box Appeal

Once again we will be participating in the Blytheswood Shoe Box Appeal. Pamphlets with instructions and suggestions will be issued shortly. We have had a fantastic response in the past and look forward to the same this year!

Water Bottles

We are now able to offer water bottles for sale @ £2.00 each. (this amount covers the initial cost to the school plus delivery) We will continue to issue a bottle free of charge to all new pupils.

Photographs-Website

We hope to launch our new website soon and from time to time we may use photographs/video clips of pupils in and around the school. Although parents were asked to complete a ‘photography permission slip’ during their child’s enrolment we would ask that if you have any objections to your child’s photograph being used in this way please contact me at the school. Indeed, also, if you have any other questions regarding your child’s education.

Yours sincerely
